Jambal Botanica

Every Enoman color has a name and an origin. This one is called Jambal, drawn from the bark of the tree.

Every Enoman color has a name, and an origin. This one is called Jambal.

Jambal is a tree whose color lives in its bark, the rough outer skin that holds its deepest tones, gathered slowly over the years the tree has stood.

Drawing the color takes patience. Pieces of bark are placed in a vessel, soaked in water, then simmered slowly until the water begins to deepen. Even then it is not used at once. The liquid is left to rest, sealed and undisturbed, allowed to mature on its own before it is finally strained and ready to meet the cloth.

What results is a color that shifts gently with the light, never flat the way a factory color is flat. It changes again when it meets the cloth and the minerals we work with, so that no two lengths ever carry it in quite the same way.

This is not a color that is made. It is a color that is grown, then asked, patiently, to come out.
