Jolawe Botanica

Every Enoman color has a name and an origin. This one is called Jolawe, drawn from the dried fruit of the tree.

Every Enoman color has a name, and an origin. This one is called Jolawe.

Unlike the barks and woods we work with, Jolawe gives its color from its fruit. Gathered and dried, the fruit holds within it a quiet color, waiting to be drawn out by water and time.

Drawing the color takes patience. The dried fruit is placed in a vessel, soaked, then simmered slowly until the water begins to take on its hue. Even then it is not used at once. The liquid is left to rest, sealed and undisturbed, allowed to deepen on its own before it is strained and ready to meet the cloth.

What results is a color that shifts gently with the light, never flat the way a factory color is flat. It changes again when it meets the cloth and the minerals we work with, so that no two lengths ever carry it in quite the same way.

This is not a color that is made. It is a color that is grown, then asked, patiently, to come out.
